Snare Drum

I was at a clients carrying out a repair and found this snare in the corner. Not being used probably as it was sounding very poor. A quick look and I noticed a few basic faults. The drum itself is looking a little tired but only cosmetic its a fine Pearl Sensitone Steel 14 x 5.5. These are great snares if you keep it in good condition. So this has a snare wire tied on wrongly using thin wire. I would use real web cotton, lasts longer and gives a good contact area, it is often used on the more expensive professional quality snare drums yet costs a few pounds to upgrade.

Also looking at the skin, it was well past its best. A quick replacement and a good tune up this drum would be back in the rack and customers would be asking to use it.

So this £120 snare drum is sitting in a corner not being used when a quick replacement of the skin and the snare wire correctly positioned and secured. cost of parts less than £13.
